The NZ Police Association provides a range of services to police staff (both currently serving and retired) and their families. We have a team of more than 60 people in various roles dedicated to providing exceptional service to our members. We have 8 staff throughout New Zealand providing timely and effective support and advice to members.

About the role

You will be based in our Wellington city national office. This position works with other employment lawyers and employment advisors delivering a wide range of advice, support, and representation to NZPA members. This role will provide legal advice and representation to the association and to members on employment matters and industrial issues.

We are specifically looking for an experienced lawyer and enthusiastic advocate to appear in the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court. This role will also support the legal team, the employment team and our district employment advisors.

About you

This is a new position in a well-established organisation. We are looking for someone to join the team on a permanent full-time basis. This role might be for you if you have proven experience in:

  • Appearing before the Employment Relations Authority and/or Employment Court
  • resolution of grievances and employment relationship problems;
  • employment rights, agreements, and principles;
  • negotiation and facilitation skills;
  • ability to assess problems and exercise sound judgement.

And you have:

  • A law degree with 7+ years Post-Qualified Experience
  • A solid understanding and experience in Employment law.
