Senior HR Advisor

Mō te tūranga | About the role

• 12-month fixed term role at 32 hours per week.
• Deliver expert HR guidance across the full employee lifecycle.
• Support leaders through ER matters, change initiatives, and performance conversations.
• Partner with leaders to grow capability and enhance workplace culture.
• Lead or contribute to strategic HR projects and policy improvements.
• Ensure compliance with employment law and alignment with council values.
• Collaborative with a passionate, high-performing People & Capability team.

Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related discipline.
• 5–7 years of generalist HR experience, ideally in complex setting.
• Strong background in employment relations and advisory support.
• In depth knowledge of NZ employment legislation.
• Public sector experience is a bonus.

• Report to the HR Manager and work alongside two Business Partners, an Advisor and two Coordinators with support from a dedicated Analyst.
• Collaborate closely with Learning & Development and Health & Safety teams within People & Capability.
• Provide expert HR support to a diverse organisation of around 650 employees
