Mitchell Daysh is a specialist environmental and planning consultancy, partnering with clients to navigate some of New Zealand’s most complex resource management challenges. 

We are looking for a talented people person to lead across the full spectrum of generalist HR.

This role presents an opportunity to drive strategic HR projects that have a lasting impact on our business and our people. You’ll play a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture while ensuring our HR practices remain cutting-edge and compliant. You’ll be part of a passionate, innovative team, and your expertise will directly influence our business’s growth and success.

Key functions and responsibilities:

  • Providing expert advice and implementing fit for purpose HR strategies that engage and retain top talent
  • Maintaining HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment law and regulations
  • Identifying talent needs, recruiting and leading the onboarding of new team members
  • Leading individual and organisational development initiatives
  • Managing performance processes in alignment with our business goals
  • Leading our health, safety and wellbeing initiatives and managing our HSW Plan
  • Leading remuneration and recognition processes and initiatives
  • Maintaining employee data, managing employment agreements and changes; and
  • Fostering a culture of healthy high-performance

You will need to have:

  • Five plus years’ generalist HR experience, ideally with some having been in a professional services setting;
  • A tertiary qualification in HR or a closely related practice;
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation, and the interface with payroll law and practice;
  • A client service aptitude with an ability to build strong working relationships;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and
  • The ability to travel to other offices, including occasionally overnight (you can check out all of our locations on our website at www.mitchelldaysh.co.nz)

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior HR professional looking to take ownership of strategic initiatives in a respected consultancy. Ours is a fast paced and dynamic environment, working with a passionate and talented national team. 

Based in our Takapuna office, this role is primarily office-based with flexible working arrangements. We would consider part-time for the right candidate.
