Michelle Harris, Strategy and Organisation Development Manager, Hamilton City Council

Michelle is an accomplished Human Resources and Change Management leader. Currently Strategy and Organisation Development Manager at Hamilton City Council, Michelle leads a team of passionate learning, development and diversity professionals and has strategic oversight of organisational and employee development for more than 1400 council employees.

 With more than 20 years’ experience across a variety of people and capability-related fields, Michelle has led several projects, in both the private and public sector, to enhance workplace capabilities and culture. She has also overseen the implementation of significant projects to enhance staff development, instituted best practice recruitment methods, and led end-to-end change management programmes.

 Michelle has led the delivery and implementation of several Council-wide systems and processes, most recently new HRIS, recruitment and learning platforms.

 An effective and collaborative leader, Michelle is passionate about helping employees achieve their goals while recognising their contributions to the organisational ‘big picture.’

 In addition to holding a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies and HR Management from Massey University, she is an accredited PROSCI Change Management practitioner and a previous winner of a New Zealand Workplace Health and Safety Award for the best initiative to improve employee wellness.
