VicHRM and HRNZ launch to the VUW student ecosystem

This is a student led event organised by our HRNZ Wellington Network Student Ambassadors.

VicHRM, the newly established Human Resources and Management student society at Victoria University of Wellington, is proud to partner with Human Resources New Zealand (HRNZ) to deliver its official launch event. This event is designed to bridge the gap between HR students and the professional industry by providing direct exposure to real-world HR careers, networks, and opportunities.

Currently, many students studying HR and management lack clear visibility of career pathways and industry expectations. This event directly addresses that gap by connecting students with HR professionals and introducing them to HRNZ as the key professional body shaping HR practice in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The event will feature a structured yet engaging format, beginning with a VicHRM introduction outlining the purpose of the club and how it supports student development. This will be followed by an introduction from HRNZ, highlighting the organisation’s role, student membership benefits, and career opportunities available to students.

A key highlight of the event is an industry panel featuring HR professionals, including graduates from Victoria University of Wellington. Panelists will share their career journeys, insights into the HR profession, and practical advice on the skills required to succeed in the industry. This will be followed by an interactive Q&A session, allowing students to engage directly with industry representatives.

To maximise student value and engagement, the event will also include networking opportunities, an HRNZ information booth, and a LinkedIn headshot station. These elements are designed to create a supportive and professional environment that encourages meaningful interaction and long-term connections.

Overall, this event provides a high-impact opportunity to strengthen the relationship between students and the HR profession, while positioning HRNZ as the primary gateway for students entering the industry.
