Join HRNZ for a thought-provoking session with Cameron Bagrie, Economist and Founder at Bagrie Economics, as he explores the current economic and workforce context in New Zealand, and what it means for HR professionals and organisations.
This session will challenge some of the assumptions that have shaped business and workforce thinking over the past 20 years. Cameron will reflect on the shift from a period of relative stability and “just in time” efficiency, to a more complex environment where organisations need to think differently about resilience, long-term challenges, inflation, climate change, education, skills, and future workforce needs. So whilst we’re all concerned about the current fuel crisis, Cameron will challenge us to consider that this is not a “blip” that will pass but instead the catalyst for a more significant change.
The key message: it may be time to break the shackles on the thinking that has guided us for the last two decades.
What will be covered
-The current New Zealand economic and workforce context
-Lessons from past policy settings and periods of economic stability
-The shift from “just in time” to “just in case” thinking
-Inflation, productivity, education, and long-term challenges
