BERL has just completed the largest and most in-depth study of pay practices in New Zealand businesses.  Commissioned by STILL Minding the Gap, Jo (SMTG leader) will present and discuss the implications of the research. Findings include calculations of compliance costs of gender and ethnic reporting, the measured benefits and costs of addressing pay gaps, and detailed insights into what businesses found are the most effective actions for increasing inclusion. The overall conclusion from the research was addressing gender pay gaps results in a considerable net benefit for businesses, and can be directly linked to increased profitability.

A refund of fees will be made if a cancellation is received in writing at least 10 working days prior to the commencement of the webinar.

Presenter Details

Jo Cribb

Jo is a consultant, experienced Chief Executive, board director, strategist, and gender and policy expert with a strong track record in strategy, influencing decision makers, and solving complex policy and organisational challenges. Previously Chief Executive of the Ministry for Women — one of the youngest Chief Executives appointed in the New Zealand Public Service — Jo has focused much of her career on advancing outcomes for vulnerable people, including work on child poverty, family violence, child abuse, and vulnerable women. She was formerly Deputy Children’s Commissioner and led the Commissioner’s Expert Advisory Group on Solutions to Child Poverty. Jo currently serves on several Government and NGO boards, including the New Zealand Media Council, Royal New Zealand Navy Leadership Board, Literacy Aotearoa, and CORE Education Ltd. She holds a Doctorate in Public Policy focused on government and NGO contracting relationships. She co-authored the 2024 book Don’t Worry About the Robots: How to Survive and Thrive in the New World of Work, exploring the impact of technology and AI on work, and the 2020 book Take Your Space: Successful Women Share their Secrets, supporting women and girls to advance themselves. Jo was a finalist in the 2016 New Zealand Women of Influence Awards, received a Westpac Leadership Fellowship in 2014, and won the 2021 Women in Governance Community Award. She is also the proud mother of two, distills her own gin, and owns a small vineyard in Martinborough.
