HRNZ invites you to the inaugural Mana Tāngata event, launched at Matariki as a time for reflection, connection, and new beginnings, bringing together HR professionals interested in te ao Māori. This inclusive, tikanga Māori–grounded event focuses on building relationships, sharing ideas, and shaping the future of the bicultural network through collaboration and collective learning.

As the Matariki stars rise, they signal a time to pause, reflect, reconnect, and look ahead. It is a season of new beginnings, making it the perfect time to launch Mana Tāngata, HRNZ's Bicultural Special Interest Network.

This inaugural hui is an opportunity to come together as a community, build new connections, and explore the kaupapa that sits at the heart of Mana Tāngata. Whether you are just beginning your journey in te ao Māori or have been walking this path for some time, you are warmly welcomed.

At the centre of our gathering is the concept of herenga waka, the binding together of waka for a shared purpose. It speaks to the power of collective commitment, shared learning, and moving forward together. As we begin shaping this network, herenga waka reminds us that meaningful progress is built through connection, collaboration, and a willingness to learn from one another.

Grounded in tikanga Māori, this hui will provide a welcoming and inclusive space to connect, contribute, and help shape the future of Mana Tāngata.

Together, we will: 
•  Connect and begin building relationships across the network 
•  Meet the Mana Tāngata committee 
•  Learn about the purpose, vision, and aspirations of Mana Tāngata 
•  Share ideas and hopes for the future of the network 
•  Strengthen our understanding and practice of te ao Māori within the HR profession
