We invite you to our third HRM Musings of 2025 for a critical conversation about the dark side of working in human resources and the realities of HR as “extreme work.”
This session turns the spotlight on the impact of HR work on HR professionals themselves. Too often, HR practitioners serve as organisational “toxin filters,” absorbing conflict, carrying heavy emotional and cognitive loads, and navigating potential disrespect from employees, managers, or both.
Together, we will explore why HR can be such a challenging profession, and how dignity, civility, and resilience can be maintained in the face of oftentimes extreme pressures.
Our speakers - Dr Justine Ferrer (Deakin University), Catherine Stapleton (Better HR Co.), and Rebecca Jury (University of Canterbury) - will share research insights, practical experiences, and professional strategies for sustaining wellbeing in HR roles.
Join us as we consider how HR professionals can build individual resilience, draw strength from community, and find support through the professional body of HRNZ.
Please note, the HRM Musings series of webinars are NOT recorded.
