HRNZ is pleased to partner with Duncan Cotterill to present the third instalment of the 2024 HR101 series. Joe Williams (Senior Associate) and Rosie Davison (Solicitor) will be running an informative session on managing performance concerns from an employment law perspective, broadly covering the following:
- Core legal components
- Formal versus informal performance processes
- Performance improvement plans
- Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Strategies for dealing with difficult performance situations
Attendees will leave this session with broader understanding of performance concerns and how to deal with them in both an informal and formal context, while managing legal risk.

Presenter Details
Joe Williams, Senior Associate, Duncan Cotterill
Joe is a Senior Associate in the employment team at Duncan Cotterill. He has considerable experience advising on all facets of employment and health & safety law, and prides himself on understanding the unique needs of his clients and providing tailored and effective advice. He regularly assists employer and employee clients to navigate difficult workplace issues, including disciplinary investigations, performance management, restructurings and dispute resolution.
Rosie Davison, Solicitor, Duncan Cotterill
Rosie is a Solicitor in the Employment team at Duncan Cotterill. She works closely with a variety of clients to advise on a range of matters including disciplinary and performance processes, restructures and redundancies, and assisting with the defence of personal grievance claims. This includes representing clients during mediations and other employment processes. Rosie also has experience assisting employee clients in raising employment concerns and negotiating exits and settlements.
