Widening the Gate - Creating Equity in Workplaces
Thursday 12 November | 8am - 6pm | Auckland

When more people thrive, organisations thrive.

Widening the Gate - Creating Equity in Workplaces explores what equity really means for the future of work.  Why it matters, how it affects everyone, and what organisations can do right now to make sure more people have a genuine chance to succeed.  Expect practical, honest conversations about making recruitment, workplace culture, and technology more inclusive - so more people can access opportunity and thrive once they're there.

You'll take part in discussions, hear from experts, and join hands-on sessions designed to help you find real solutions for your organisation.  The goal is to equip you with ideas and actions that can make a meaningful difference - now and in the years ahead.

Who should attend?

HR leaders, people managers, and anyone involved in shaping workplace systems and strategy.

Who you'll hear from

Gail Pacheco, Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner, NZ Human Rights Commission — on what workplace equity really means in Aotearoa today and why it matters

Olivia Dyet, Founder, Empathix — on recruitment as the first gate: where bias enters through ATS filters and automated screening, and how to design fairer selection processes

Cameron Bagrie, Bagrie Economics — on New Zealand's shifting labour market demographics and the economic case for addressing workforce inequity

Charlotte Ward, Chief People Officer, Kiwibank — on the difference between diversity, inclusion, and belonging, and why getting the sequence right is critical

Steven Moe, Partner, Parry Field Lawyers — on how boards and executives can hold equity commitments to account when they risk becoming deprioritised

Gergana David & Louisa Dellabarca, Big Bloom / In The Room — facilitating an interactive design lab where you'll prototype real equity solutions to take back to your organisation

Maretha Smit, CEO, Te Uru Tāngata Centre for Workplace Inclusion - will lead a panel discussion exploring the growing digital divide and what it means for equity and opportunity in Aotearoa's workplaces today.
