FT - former Director, Auckland
About
Throughout my working career my belief is that it is the people that enable an organisation to be successful. As a result my business life has been as an HR manager, a founder of Capability Group, an organisation development consultant, a coach and mentor, and a co-author of the Emotional Capability Profile and Resilience Profile and associated learning, now used in countries around the world.
I am a Distinguished Fellow of HRNZ. I have contributed to the growth and professional status of HRNZ since the mid-1980’s in various voluntary roles. For this work I was humbled to receive the HRNZ Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021.
I have been an HRNZ mentor for some years and feedback from my mentorees is that our mentoring relationship has been enjoyable, helpful and enabling. I, personally, have found this to be so as I see mentoring as a two-way relationship.
My approach is to understand my mentoree’s current situation and to agree goals for the outcome of our mentoring relationship. From this understanding, my mentoree is able to make decisions and take actions that progressively lead to achieving their goals. These decisions are informed by my being able to call upon my professional experience in working within, and consulting to, many different organisations.
