Categories & Criteria 2027
Find your place in the NZ HR Awards
Explore the categories below and choose the award that best reflects your work, impact or contribution. The examples are a guide only — if your entry aligns with the purpose of a category, it may still be eligible. Each category also notes how entries are judged: Individual, Organisational or Business Impact. Need help choosing? Contact [email protected].
How categories are judged:
Entries are scored against one of three entry templates:
Individual entries:
- The context described,
- The initiative or role,
- Its impact,
- And the evidence provided.
Organisational entries:
- A clear problem analysis,
- The people values and bicultural approach underpinning the work,
- How the HR team led its implementation,
- The impact achieved,
- And the evidence provided.
Business Impact uses its own template and is judged against six distinct criteria — see that category below.
Individual Awards
Individual / Organisation Categories

Organisation Categories
These categories are designed for organisational entries who have shown excellence in specific functional areas.
Eligibility: All organisation categories must demonstrate clear alignment to their specific category. Organisations do not have to be members of HRNZ in order to enter.
