An opportunity has arisen for a confident and experienced Senior Human Resources Advisor to join Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa in a six-month fixed-term role, available immediately.

As a Senior HR Advisor, you’ll act as a trusted partner to managers and senior leaders, providing expert advice and practical support across the full employee lifecycle. You’ll lead employment relations work, coach leaders, support organisational change, and contribute to strategic HR initiatives that strengthen engagement, capability, and performance.

We welcome applications from candidates seeking either full-time or part-time hours (no less than 32 hours per week). This role is based at our National Office on Victoria Street, Wellington. Our office is a fun, inclusive and offers a thoughtfully designed space, with a mix of shared, quiet, and collaborative areas. Key areas of focus

  • Providing trusted, expert advice to managers and senior leaders.
  • Leading employment and industrial relations matters.
  • Supporting organisational change and consultation processes.
  • Coaching leaders to build confidence and capability.
  • Supporting recruitment, workforce planning, and onboarding.
  • Contributing to leadership development and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Providing workforce insights through HR reporting and data.
  • Supporting HR projects, system improvements, and continuous improvement.

To be considered for the role you will ideally have:

  • Significant generalist HR experience at a senior advisor level.
  • Strong experience managing ER cases and providing sound advice.
  • Experience working in unionised environments and supporting IR processes.
  • A solid understanding of NZ employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Experience coaching and supporting leaders through people matters and change.
  • Strong judgement, discretion, and relationship management skills.
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to fostering a culturally safe, inclusive workplace

Experience in the health or not-for-profit sector would be an advantage but isn’t essential — what matters most is your enthusiasm for making a difference and your ability to support others to do their best work.
