Auckland Senior Advisor

About

Senior HR Advisor (Part-time | 15 hours/week with flexibility for additional hours)

Shakti Women’s Refuge Trust is a leading national provider of culturally specialist family violence crisis response and intervention services supporting women from Asian, African and Middle Eastern communities. We have staff and volunteers across our centres and safehouses in Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, Tauranga, Christchurch and Dunedin, and run a 24/7 national crisis helpline.

As we enter our next chapter after 30 years of supporting immigrant women and children in New Zealand, we are seeking an experienced Senior HR Advisor to provide values-driven, strategic human resources leadership that sustains our people and our mission.

This is a newly designed role, created to strengthen our people and culture capability as Shakti continues to grow and evolve.

About the Role

Supported by the full-time National Administration Manager, the Senior HR Advisor will lead Shakti’s people and culture strategy by providing expert HR advice and overseeing the implementation of sustainable staffing and workforce plans.

This role is ideal for a senior HR professional who brings depth of experience, cross-cultural competence, and who is motivated by meaningful, purpose-led work contributing to the legacy of New Zealand’s immigrant women’s movement.

You may feel that you've reached a peak in your career and looking for intentional ways to 'give back' to the community.

You also understand the pulse of a client-centred women’s NGO, value collective responsibility, and are willing to be ‘all hands-on deck’ when required, such as offering volunteering in interpreting or support during peak periods for our 24/7 national crisis helpline.

Our Values

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong alignment with Shakti’s values as an organisation led by and for ethnic women. You will understand what motivates people working in the family violence and sexual violence sector and contribute to nurturing an organisational culture where service excellence is underpinned by respect, empathy and integrity.

We warmly encourage applications from women with lived experience. Shakti is proudly victim-survivor led, with nearly half of our workforce identifying as survivors of family violence.
