Recruitment Officer

Invercargill | Permanent Full Time

At Southern Institute of Technology (SIT), our people are at the heart of what we do. We're looking for a proactive and highly organised Recruitment Officer who enjoys connecting with people, building relationships, and creating a positive experience for candidates and hiring managers alike.

This is a diverse and rewarding role where no two days are the same. From attracting talent and coordinating recruitment campaigns to supporting onboarding and employee administration, you'll play a key role in helping SIT attract and retain great people.

Your juggling skills will come in handy as you balance your people-focused responsibilities with important administrative tasks. You'll think outside the box, thrive in a fast-paced environment, communicate with confidence, and enjoy being part of a collaborative and supportive team.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing end-to-end recruitment and selection processes.
  • Coordinating advertising, applications, shortlisting, interviews and reference checks.
  • Preparing employment offers, employment agreements and appointment documentation.
  • Coordinating onboarding, induction and new employee administration.
  • Maintaining accurate recruitment and employee records.
  • Producing recruitment reports and monitoring key employment dates.
  • Conducting exit interviews and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Providing general People and Capability administration support.

What you'll bring

  • Experience in recruitment, HR administration, or a similar people-focused role.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and a high level of confidentiality.
  • Sound knowledge of New Zealand employment and recruitment practices.
  • Confidence using Microsoft 365 and HR information systems.
  • A positive attitude, initiative, and a commitment to providing great customer service.

Why join us?

You'll be joining a close-knit People and Capability team that is passionate about supporting people and helping SIT continue to make a difference in our communities. You will get hands-on experience across recruitment and HR, to grow and add value to the organisation.

We value wellbeing, professionalism, and strong relationships, and offer benefits such as professional development opportunities, free parking, gym access, and a workplace culture that supports both high performance and having a bit of fun along the way.

Applications close on 13 November 2026 and will be reviewed as they are received. Due to the fast-paced nature of our vacancies, close dates may be subject to change.

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa and must be available for an in-person Interview in Invercargill
