Pure Pac is a cherry growing, packing and marketing company based in Cromwell, Central Otago, New Zealand. We work across the region to deliver premium cherries to local and international markets while providing an exciting and fast-paced seasonal work environment. This internship is a fixed term variable starting around Mid-November 2026 (flexible) and ending in late Jan/early February 2027. During the busiest part of the season we have 7-day operations. This role will have minimum of 32 hours, spread across 4-6 days of the week including weekends. The hours of work will be varied as per the operational needs. We need 2 HR interns to assist us during the cherry harvest season and will start contacting shortlisted canddiates for interviews once the job advert expires.
Key Responsibilities
This role is both administrative and hands on, tasks are varied and may include:
- Assessing online applications for picker and packhouse positions based on our criteria Offering employment agreements to successful candidates using the Pure Pac Portal software
- Onboarding seasonal team members using the Pure Pac Portal and presenting group inductions
- Daily preparation of bin labels, picker labels and sending fully charged devices for field deployment
- Timesheet entry into the payroll system and ensuring all records are up-to-date for accurately and timely processing of payroll for all employees
- Act as a point of contact for employees to express their concerns and grievances, listening empathetically and trying to resolve the grievance in the best possible manner.
- Early morning starts or late evening finishes, staggered with your colleagues. Organising social events and pastoral care activities
- Accurately managing bookings, including check-ins and checkouts for our employee accomodation.
- Setting a good example by following Health and Safety procedures and encouraging others to do the same.
- Providing updates and generating informative/analytical reports as required by management.
- Assistance with general administration tasks and any other work as required from time to time.
- Expect your first two weeks to be focused on training and learning the role. You will learn and practice skills across several aspects of recruitment and HR.

- Prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- Be excellent with systems and diligently following procedures with a high level of accuracy.
- Have excellent computer literacy including Excel and ability to learn and understand new software quickly.
- Great people skills, adaptability and the confidence to have difficult conversations.
- Effectively communicate with Management, solve problems when you can and ask for help when you need it.
- This role is best suited to students studying Human Resources, Organisational Behaviour, Physiology, Management, Business Administration or Commerce and has the potential of returning next year. You will gain real-world experience in fast paced multicultural environment and an introduction to New Zealand's thriving horticulture industry.
