We work predominantly with employer clients across New Zealand, providing practical, commercially focused advice through ongoing instructions, retainer programmes, HR advisory support, and employment law services.

Founded by Emma Monsellier, an Employment Law and HR specialist with over 20 years’ experience, Monsellier Law operates across two closely connected areas: HR and Legal.

We are now looking to grow our HR and Employment Relations team and are open to speaking with candidates at different levels of experience.

About the Opportunities

We are looking for people who are passionate about HR, employment relations, employment law, to support our employer clients with practical, clear, and commercially focused advice.

Senior Employment Relations Specialist level

  • Ideal for someone with 5+ years’ experience in HR, employment relations, or employment law advisory work, who can confidently manage a portfolio of matters.

Both roles will involve working closely with Emma in a supportive, professional, and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities May Include

  • Providing HR and employment relations advice to employer clients
  • Managing a portfolio of matters
  • Supporting clients with conducting HR processes
  • Preparing, drafting, and reviewing employment documentation, including employment agreements, letters, policies, variations, and HR process documents
  • Supporting dispute resolution work, including responding to personal grievances and advocacy at mediation
  • Conducting research on employment legislation, case law, and HR best practice
  • Managing client communications including follow-up, file notes, timelines, and records
  • Supporting strategic HR projects and compliance work
  • Building strong, trusted relationships with clients

  • Experience in HR, employment relations, employment law support, or a related advisory role
  • A strong interest in New Zealand employment law and HR best practice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence working with employment documentation
  • A proactive, organised, and reliable approach
  • The ability to manage multiple matters in a professional services environment
  • A practical, client-focused mindset
  • A willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to a small but highly capable team
  • Time recording and fee-earning experience preferred

What We Offer

  • Salary range from $60,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on experience and role level
  • Direct mentoring and support
  • Exposure to both HR advisory and employment law work
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities
  • A supportive, friendly environment
