Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | about the role 

An excellent opportunity for a recent Human Resources graduate to kick start their HR career as a HR coordinator. The role provides high level administrative support to the HR Operations Team within the Electoral Commission in the lead up to the 2026 general election. This is a 6 month fixed-term vacancy from 1 June - 27 November 2026 with a salary of $61,550 - $68,390. 

Ko tāu e whakarato ai | Key responsibilities 

  • Provide support efficiently and accurately to ensure the HR Operations team’s success in delivering on its operational priorities for the general election.
  • Address HR mailbox queries from managers, responding or escalating promptly to the relevant HR Operations team members. Record all queries to support regular reporting requirements.
  • Maintain a centralised employment relations register for recording, responding and reporting to ensure information is organised and accessible.
  • Respond to MoJ and serious misconduct queries and security checks.
  • Prepare employment variations and manual employment agreement documents outside the recruitment system.
  • Work with others in the wider P&C team on matters that impact their specialist areas.

We are seeking candidates who are able to showcase: 

  • The ability to deal with people of all levels within the organisation.
  • A high level of computer literacy including Windows, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and Teams · The ability to multi-task and manage multiple requirements simultaneously.
  • Hold a relevant human resources tertiary qualification.
  • Any previous Public Sector experience would be ideal but not required.
