Young Professionals Network

Working purpose statement

The HRNZ Young HR Professionals Special Interest Network is a space for students, graduates and young HR professionals to connect, build confidence and feel supported as they enter and grow within the HR profession. Through practical resources, events and peer connection, the network aims to make HRNZ more accessible to young people and create a stronger pathway from study into professional practice.

Meet the Young Professionals Network Co-Chairs

Alex Thompson - Graduate HR Consultant

Hey, I’m Alex, and I’m a Graduate HR Consultant.

As I start my career, I’m excited to get stuck into all things HR. This includes learning, developing, and growing within the HR space, while continuing to build some strong connections within the HR community. Outside of work, I love reading, going to the gym, and getting involved at my local surf club.

I’m excited to see where a career in HR takes me and how we can learn, connect, and grow together along the way!

Hannah Aronsen - People Services Coordinator

I work in a HR generalist role, in areas of administration, onboarding, HR systems and technology, employee experience, remuneration and much more.

I enjoy working with people to achieve outcomes and improving HR processes where she can and has a interest in supporting young professionals early in their careers, ensuring they have resources to succeed in an ever-changing world.

Why join?

The network focuses on building confidence, capability and connection for young HR professionals. Early career professionals can face barriers to attending events, asking questions, approaching mentors, using LinkedIn, building a personal brand, or feeling confident in professional networking spaces.

The network aims to reduce those barriers by creating practical, inviting ways for young people to participate in the HR community.
