Te āheinga - The opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced People and Performance Business Partner to join our team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave until May 2025. Hours of work can range from 24 to 40 hours per week. In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering NPDC's human resource business priorities and programmes, enhancing the performance of individuals, teams, and the Council. Your expertise and specialist advice will support leaders and the wider organisation in achieving their goals.

Tino takohanga - Key responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with assigned business areas and work in partnership with leaders in the business to drive people capability and improve business performance through proactive HR support
  • Actively participate in the delivery of HR or organisational projects and initiatives that support a high-performance culture
  • Ensure HR policies and practices are aligned with the organisations strategic goals
  • Provide specialist advice and support on HR practices, procedures, policies, and systems including remuneration and industrial relations
  • Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation

Ngā tino pūkenga me ngā wheako - Essential skills and experience:

  • Relevant HR degree or diploma
  • Proven work experience in a broad generalist HR or related role
  • Able to challenge 'mental models' in a positive and constructive way, through negotiation and influencing skills
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of New Zealand employment legislation
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Products - particularly Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

You can expect to start in this fixed-term role with us between $108,493 and $116,930 (pro rata).
