An exciting opportunity awaits an awesome HR professional to join our People and Capability team as a HR Service Partner based in Whangarei.  You will be joining a great team with the ability to take ownership of the role in an organisation that is complex and dynamic. You will partner with specific services as a trusted advisor to senior managers and leaders, whilst being given the opportunity to work across the organisation. 

Using your knowledge and experience gained in a medium to large organisation you will support your internal stakeholders in meeting Te Whatu Ora, Te tai Tokerau’s strategic and operational goals. We need a great team player who works hard, puts people first and is able to promote and support Managers to implement pragmatic, equitable, culturally appropriate solutions. 

The role is 40 hours per week and as a team we work in a flexible manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with leaders and managers and be the ‘go-to’ problem solver with the ability to coach and influence established or alternative ideas

  • Be the ‘trusted advisor’ and service partner for our leaders to co-create solutions and people strategies for people related issues and initiatives

  • Think pragmatically and provide managers with support on a broad spectrum of HR matters

  • Contribute to the development of positive new people initiatives

  • Develop and maintain sound working relationships with union partners

  • Provide HR training for managers and team leaders

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a strong HR Generalist in a large / complex organisation, ideally within the health or public sector 

  • Sound knowledge of good IR/ER practice with the practical ability to apply it within a complex organisation 

  • Understanding of New Zealand employment law and ability to apply that knowledge in the provision of advice, guidance, support and solutions to managers

  • Ability to influence and coach managers in good people/HR practices

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships

  • Proven experience in supporting and advising on change management processes

Knowledge and lived experience of Te Ao Māori and Tikanga would be beneficial but are not a requirement to apply.
